Don't have a Stroke Recovery Branch in your community?

No problem! SRABC can help you and your community to start a new branch. Call us and we can get you started with a package of information. We'll walk you through the steps and help where needed. All it takes is a little time, patience and one contact person in your community.

The first step in starting a new branch is to determine the need in your community. A good place to start is to speak with the discharge planner (often the social worker) in your local hospital.

You can also talk to the hospital's physiotherapist or rehabilitation department. These resources will have a good overview of the prevalence of stroke survivors in the community.

Your next step is to get a general feel of the need in the community. Find out if there are at least 10 stroke survivors in your community who want to get together once a week.

You can download the New Branch Start Up package
in Word or in PDF.
